Experience
I am an experienced Special Education Teacher, currently teaching for Baltimore City Public Schools. I have a current Advanced Professional Certificate for teaching in Regular Education (k-8) and Special Education (K-8). I also have additional credits in Reading. Teaching is my life's work. I love working with students. My students enjoy my classes and are able to master skills that they need. I have taught the full range of students from prekindergarten age students to University level graduate students. As a regular education teacher, I've taught the full range of subjects found in the elementary school curriculum. My experience is broader as a special education teacher, having taught elementary and middle school students with learning difficulties. I have taught prospective teachers at the University level, helping them to prepare for careers working with special needs students. I am an engaging, positive person who is able to plan for and tailor lessons to a student's individual needs. Lessons are organized and move in a step-by-step fashion. Content is delivered by demonstrating and explaining it first, followed by practice with immediate feedback. As a student begins to show that they understand, they are given more independence in their work, always under supervision from the teacher. Students receive feedback on their progress and participate in recording ongoing achievements.
